Pair of George III Period Candle Vases
A pair of rare George III-period "Candle Vases" attributed to Matthew Boulton, decorated in the Neoclassical taste with garlands, rams heads, and fluting. Doré and patinated bronze, English, c. 1770.
These objects were designed with convertible lids so that they could appear as normal casoulettes during the daytime, while the lids could be inverted at night to serve as candle holders.
