Bilston Enamel Candlesticks - Lighting
Bilston Enamel Candlesticks
A fine pair of hand-painted Bilston Enamel Candlesticks, having a cobalt blue ground with medallions depicting pastoral scenes and floral sprays with gilt detailing. Engish, c. 1760s. Many enamel wares were produced in Bilston, West Midlands, during this period, usually by small family-run shops. It is thought that this is one of the few areas where female artisans may have contributed to production during the 18th century.
