A rare Art Nouveau Period handwrought Serving Tray in the prestigious "Martelé" pattern by Gorham, having a border of fuscias and thistle leaves. The hallmark includes the artist's initials "LMN". Brittania Silver (.9584), American, c. 1906-1912.
The Martelé line was introduced by Gorham in the 1890s, intended to be the ultimate luxury silver. Every piece was produced by hand in the popular Art Nouveau Style, and the line enjoyed great success at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris. Martelé is still highly sought-after by collectors and museums alike.
