18th-century “Feuilles de Choux" Bowl - Porcelain

18th-century “Feuilles de Choux" Bowl
A rare Louis-XV period "Feuilles de Choux [cabbage leaf]" Bowl by the royal Sèvres porcelain manufactory in superb condition, decorated with floral sprays and gilding. Appropriately marked with the LL monogram in overglaze enamel on base. Parcel-gilt soft-paste porcelain with blue enamel, French, c. 1770.
Drawings of the Cabbage Leaf blank survive among the technical drawings by the artists who worked at Sèvres during this period, allowing a rather precise date. This piece was likely given as an opulent royal gift to a courtier or foreign dignitary, probably as part of a larger dinner service.
3" h. x 9" diameter
